Does Petroleum Office work with Office for Mac?
Petroleum Office requires Microsoft Excel 2016, 2019, or Microsoft 365 for Windows, and the .NET 8.0 Runtime. We have looked into developing a Mac version of Petroleum Office, but unfortunately, Office for Mac doesn't provide the necessary interfaces.
How can I update?
To update an existing copy of Petroleum Office, just install the new version over the existing copy. It's that simple.
I can't sign in to my account. Can you help?
Petroleum Office v2 uses secure sign-in with your email address — there are no license codes. If you're having trouble signing in, make sure you're using the same email address you used to create your account. If you still need help, contact us with your email address and we'll assist you.
Petroleum Office isn't working as expected. What can I do?
The first thing you should check is whether you are using the latest version of Petroleum Office. You can do this by clicking the Check for Updates button in the Petroleum Office Ribbon.
If your version of Petroleum Office is up-to-date, please contact us describing the problem. We will do our best to get back to you with a solution.
How do I activate my subscription in Excel?
Open Excel and switch to the Petroleum Office ribbon tab. Click the Sign In button and sign in with your email address. Once signed in, your subscription is activated automatically — no license codes needed.
I installed the add-in but it didn't appear in Excel.
Most likely you need to run the setup file as Administrator. Right-click on setup file and choose menu Run as administrator. Also check documentation section for more suggestions.
Can I get Petroleum Office for free as a student or professor?
Yes! We offer a free Academic Program for students, faculty, and research staff at participating universities with petroleum engineering or oil & gas related programs.
Simply sign up using your university email address (e.g., name@university.edu). Our system automatically recognizes participating institutions and activates your academic license instantly — no approval process or credit card required.
If your university is not yet in our program, contact us with your university name, email domain, and a link to your petroleum/energy engineering program page. We'll review and add eligible institutions within 5 business days.
